Unbelievable, I have never worked with someone as knowledgeable and on top of things the way Bill was, I had several issues with the condition of the house. My wife and I meet Bill and Quinn about three years ago and told them that when the time was right we thought that we wanted to buy a home in the Madison Valley. Bill was more than happy to show us around the area and give us a feel for what was available at the time and discussed values of property with us in a very honest manner. We were not ready to act on anything and Bill said not to worry and that he would keep in touch, let us know of new listings and changes in existing listings. The following summer, he graciously showed us more properties but never pushed us to make any offers at all. We still were not ready to buy but were delighted to continue to get a better idea of what was available and what things were worth. The summer of 2010 we got really serious and finally decided to try and buy something. Bill was great in helping us determine values, keeping us from paying too much for one property in particular and finally helping us negotiate a great deal on a wonderful home. My husband has worked at fish hatcheries in both Idaho, Washington and now in Montana. It is often a requirement for employees to live on-station at the hatcheries, so we lived for about 5 years in "hatchery housing." We were grateful to have the affordable rent and wonderful neighbors, but we dreamed of having our own home someday. In early 2009, my husband was no longer required to live on-station, and in May of 2009, we had our son Colton, so we began our search for a home. We met Bill and Quinn Mercer, and hit it off with them right away. They are a super nice couple, and make a great team! Bill listened to our needs and wants in a home, and got right to work searching all listings. I work in Bozeman and my husband works in Ennis, so we wanted to find something in between the two to lessen my commute. Along the way, we changed our mind on location, price, and then even decided that it wasn't the right time for us to buy. Bill stuck with us very patiently through all of it, showed us several houses, answered my numerous questions, and even met us in Bozeman to show us some houses! Bill always returned phone calls, followed up on any house we were interested in, and even worked on weekends helping us. When we did finally find our first home in McAllister, Bill did a great job getting us a good price, and explaining the home buying process/paperwork. He even got the homeowner to throw in her riding lawn mower with the house!
